Online Roulette Sri Lanka

Roulette is a wheel game in which you place chips on a number or group of numbers before a spin. The winning pocket settles the bets according to the table paytable. Understanding the wheel and the stake matters more than following a betting system.

This guide explains European and American wheels, common bets, payouts and mobile play. For other formats, visit our Sri Lanka casino games hub.

Read the individual coupon rules before using a bonus on roulette. Some promotions exclude table games, even when the casino offers roulette in its lobby.

European and American roulette

A standard European wheel has numbers 1–36 and one zero, making 37 pockets. A standard American wheel adds double zero for 38 pockets. With the usual payouts, that extra losing pocket raises the house advantage on most comparable bets.

For example, a standard single-number wager wins with probability 1/37 on a single-zero wheel. At 35 to 1 profit, its mathematical expected loss is 1/37 of the stake, approximately 2.70%. On a double-zero wheel, the corresponding figure is 2/38, approximately 5.26%. These are long-run averages, not predictions for a short session.

Special variants can alter payouts and settlement. Read the actual rules rather than assuming every game with a roulette name uses the same schedule.

Inside bets and outside bets

Inside bets cover particular numbers or adjacent groups on the layout. Outside bets cover larger groups such as red, black, odd, even, low, high, dozens or columns. Covering more numbers increases the chance of a win but usually lowers the payout.

  • Straight up: one number, usually 35 to 1 profit.
  • Split: two numbers, usually 17 to 1.
  • Street: three numbers, usually 11 to 1.
  • Corner: four numbers, usually 8 to 1.
  • Six line: six numbers, usually 5 to 1.
  • Dozen or column: twelve numbers, usually 2 to 1.
  • Red/black, odd/even or low/high: eighteen numbers, usually 1 to 1.

Payouts above describe profit; the winning stake is returned separately. A $1 straight-up winner therefore returns $35 profit plus the $1 stake. Check the game paytable for any variation. Published standard roulette rules provide a reference for conventional payouts and zero settlement.

Zero, la partage and en prison

Zero is neither red nor black and does not belong to the ordinary odd/even or 1–18/19–36 groups. Under standard settlement, those bets lose when zero appears. This is why an even-money payout does not mean a fair 50–50 wager.

Some tables use la partage or en prison rules for particular even-money wagers. These change what happens when zero wins. Read the table instructions to see whether such rules apply; a French-style name alone is not enough to establish them.

Why betting systems do not guarantee a win

Martingale doubles a stake after a loss in an attempt to recover earlier losses with a later win. It does not change the wheel probabilities. A $1 starting sequence becomes $1, $2, $4, $8, $16 and $32; six losses cost $63, and the next proposed stake is $64. A table limit or your own spending limit can stop the sequence before a recovery.

Past reds, blacks or numbers do not make the next independent spin due to land elsewhere. Set a budget before opening the table and do not increase it to chase a loss. Multi-wheel play increases the number of wagers and total exposure; it does not remove the underlying house edge.

RNG, live dealer and mobile tables

RNG roulette resolves the game through software. Live roulette streams a physical table and usually has a timed betting window. Compare the actual wheel, stake range and rules before choosing. Our live dealer guide explains the streamed format.

On a small screen, check the chip denomination and total stake carefully. Zooming or touching near a layout boundary can make an unintended placement harder to notice. Read our mobile guide, iPhone guide and Android guide for device checks.

Roulette and bonus conditions

Do not assume the casino welcome bonus can be used on roulette. The coupon may exclude it, count only a small part of the stake or impose a separate maximum bet. Read the bonus guide and the exact promotion before activating it.

Use our casino reviews hub to compare operator offers, and explore blackjack, baccarat or Sic Bo for other table-game rules. Gambling outcomes are uncertain; see our responsible gambling information for limits and support.

Roulette FAQs

How many numbers are on a European roulette wheel?

A standard single-zero European wheel has 37 pockets: 1 to 36 and one zero. A standard American double-zero wheel has 38 pockets, including 0 and 00.

What does a straight-up roulette bet pay?

A standard straight-up bet pays 35 to 1 profit, with the winning stake returned separately. A $1 winning bet therefore returns $36 in total. Always check the displayed paytable.

Are red and black exactly 50–50?

No. On a single-zero wheel, red covers 18 of 37 pockets and black covers 18 of 37. The green zero means each is less than a 50% chance on a spin.

Does Martingale remove the house edge?

No. Increasing the stake after a loss does not change the next-spin probabilities or remove the house edge. Losing runs, table limits and a finite budget can produce large losses.

What happens to red or black bets when zero wins?

Under standard rules, zero loses for red, black, odd, even, low and high bets. Special rules such as la partage can change settlement of certain bets, so check the specific table.

Can roulette count toward casino bonus wagering?

Only if the particular coupon allows it. Roulette may contribute at a reduced rate or be excluded entirely. Check eligible games before placing a bonus-funded bet.

Is live roulette different from an RNG game?

Live roulette streams a physical wheel with a dealer; an RNG game resolves outcomes through software. Both require checking the wheel type, paytable, stake limits and any special rules.

Can I play roulette on a mobile device?

Check the table on your phone and make sure the chip value, layout and total stake are clear before confirming a bet. Availability and mobile compatibility depend on the operator and game.
